From the 10th January, every Monday morning, Rupert from Body and Sound will be hosting Martial Arts classes in the Lodge.
06:15 – 07:15 Qigong
07:30 – 08:30 Kung Fu
Qigong literally translates as ‘Energy Practice’ (Qi = Energy / Gong = Practice) – a vast system of health and vitality practices from Taoist lineages, tried and tested over many centuries. Enjoy both gentle and vigorous standing / sitting exercises involving movement, breathwork and energy meditation. It produces a cleansing, rejuvenating and revitalising ‘internal shower of energy’ that feels good at any time and makes for a particularly great way to start the day.
Kung Fu (or Gong Fu) means ‘skill or accomplishment gained through practice’ and is one of the oldest Martial Arts from which many other fighting arts originate. As with Qigong, there are many styles of Kung Fu, but all develop and build a balance of strength, agility, mobility, flexibility and stability. The classes focus on technique (stances / punches / kicks etc.) and applied through forms / routines (known as ‘Taolu’ in Mandarin)
